How to Handle Money

The article at the link below gives great advice on giving, being generous and tithing. Even when you don't have much money to give, there are other things you can do.

What Does Generosity Look Like When Everyone's Broke?

"We give generously, save wisely and then live appropriately", the article mentions.

Here are my thoughts on each:

GIVE GENEROUSLY

Pray and think about where God wants you to give. Of course tithing is the number one priority (and by the way, tithing literally means one-tenth of your salary. If you give more than the tithe, that extra is an "offering". Less than a tithe is a "donation"). If you feel lead by the Holy Spirit to give to other places also, then do so--generously--but not more than the tithe. If you can't afford to give one-tenth of your gross salary, then give one-tenth of your net salary.

SAVE WISELY

Give to yourself also. Have a financial plan for your future. Again, pray about it. Go by the leading of the Holy Sprit in where and how much you should save for yourself. If you want to invest your money, fine, but don't obsess over it. Invest moderately and try not to think about it much.

LIVE APPROPRIATELY

Many people live above their means. Make sure what you buy is aligned with what God wants you to buy. It's not just "What Would Jesus Do?", but also "What Would Jesus Buy?", meaning is it modest? Is it healthy for the body, mind and spirit? When you buy what God wants you to buy, you can afford anything! The closer relationship you have with God, and the more you lead a godly life, you will naturally truly want only what God wants for you, and you can get it all.

Also, don't hate money or love money. Be neutral toward it.

I'm not financially rich, but I truly can buy whatever I want.

"The Giver"

I enjoyed reading this article: Ranking the Spiritual Gifts

#8. That's me! I smiled when I read, "They tithe with joy..." Lol! This past Sunday, while sitting up in the balcony at mass, the basket was being passed around below, but no one came up to the balcony to collect the tithe.

The time was almost over for collecting, and I thought they had skipped upstairs. I had my check ready to give, but I saw them heading for the altar! I almost cried! I wanted to tithe! I was going to run down to the main aisle to give them my money, but then I saw others walking downstairs. I followed, and by the foot of the stairs, there was this girl patiently waiting for anyone up in the balcony to come with their tithe....God bless her! I felt joy in my heart and without even thinking about it, thanked her for allowing me to give my 10%.

I'm also a #3, but tend not to say anything at all.

How to Buy Without Fear of Tariffs---or Anything Else

You should not fear the news about tariffs, as long as you buy the things God wants you to buy.

In your faith, buy with intention, buy with purpose, in the way God wants you to buy according to what's best for you. Have a healthy attitude about money, and be generous with it. You know this by way of reading the Bible and praying about it.

In short, by having a good relationship with God. Know your Father and want what He wants for you. Wanting what He wants to give you will come naturally as you grow in your faith.

I am not financially rich, however, I have always got what I wanted. I have never had to "save up" to buy anything in my life. I just bought it when I needed or wanted it, because I bought with a sense of intention, and not of greed.

I also don't LOVE money, but nor do I hate it. I look at money as simply a piece of material to buy something. I'm neutral toward money.

I tithe. I love tithing and can't wait to give my 10% offering! Whether it's giving online (if I can't make it to mass), or giving at the church, I give every week with wholehearted gladness and devotion to God.

I give in other ways too, by donating to Godly ministries, and other faith-based, charitable organizations.

All these things I have been doing and I don't care if it's tariffs, inflation, recession, depression, oppression, I have always had enough money for my needs--and wants, as long as I want what God wants for me.
